AIMS & OBJECTIVES
The center is non-partisan, non-Governmental organization with the following aims and objectives.
1. To engage in research and study of democratic institutions at local, state, national and international levels.
2. To integrate research, teaching and policy application to the growth and development of legislative, executive and judicial institutions.
3. To engage in capacity building for legislators, ministers, commissioners, local Government chairmen, councilors and staff of legislative, judicial and executives institutions through conferences, seminars, workshops, study visits and other technical training programs.
4. To facilitate exchange visits among legislators, international scholars and policy makers as well as legislative, executives, judicial officers and staff.
5. To promote and inculcate a viable and vibrant democratic culture and the independence of the Legislature, in emerging democracies.
6. To sustain and advance good governance in emerging democracies through the empowerment and strengthening of legislative, executive, judicial and media institutions.
7. To promote citizenship participation in the legislative, executive and media activities of emerging democracies
8. To promote gender equality and participation in the political process in emerging democracies.
9. To engage in the study, research and monitoring of local, national and international elections as observers and research consultants
10. To organize the publication of journals, manuals, handbills and similar documents that will advance and popularize the activities of the Center.
11. To encourage and promote Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms in the conduct of legislative, executive, judicial and inter-personal affairs in emerging democracies.
12. To encourage and promote bilateral and multilateral affiliations between the Center and similar organizations for the purpose of promoting and improving service delivery.
13 To develop programmes that promote and sustain good governance, the rule of law and due process in the conduct of publice affair
14. To develop programs and collaborate with other organizations to fight corruption in the conduct of public and private life in emerging democracies.
15. To engage and collaborate with similar organizations in supporting programs that address climate change and the use of alternative source of energy.
16. To support national and international campaigns for the promotion and defence of human rights, including the rights of all disadvantaged and minority groups.
